As we said before, bodywork can be a time-consuming and tedious process, and no one knows this better than the crew of The Build. So far, they’ve patched rust damage, pulled dents and spot-welded holes in the body of their ’65 Malibu. Now it’s time for the true body work to begin! Check out the latest project the American Modern crew is working on !

Now that a lot of the body damage has been patched or tapped out, it’s time to move on to filling in the small imperfections. That’s where body filler comes in and like pros, the crew of The Build want to use a minimal amount of it. So only after grinding down welds and patch creases do they move on to skim-coating the Malibu’s damaged areas.

The crew also tied up a few loose ends this week, as welds were checked and rechecked, any remaining headliner insulation was removed and body filler was ground down to match the smoothness and level of surrounding metal. The bodywork was also sealed for protection.

Once the bodywork was completed, it was time for the car to come off the rotisserie. Now that that’s done, it’s on to the next step of the build project. Check back next week as we take a look at what’s next!
