LateModelRestoration.com Project Coyote Swap Hits The Track

It is undeniable that the Coyote engine is becoming one of the most popular for engine swap projects, and is one of the most desirable crate engines on the market. This summer LateModelRestoration.com undertook their own Coyote swap project, breathing new life into a 1997 Cobra that serves as a racer for Warren Hall and Scott Hubbard.

With the project in the books, it was time to get the Coyote out and stretch it’s legs.

With 447 hp making it to the rear wheels, this car can hang with some of the best and fastest out there as is proof in the video. The on-board camera shows the old 1997 Cobra passing a few Corvettes, and seemingly running down everything on the track. Those other track cars look to have been a terminator Cobra, and even a new BOSS 302. Of course given the additional power from the bolt on parts and custom tune installed in this car, as well as the driving capability of Scott Hubbard, it would take a very capable driver, and another very good car to catch this one through the corners, or down the straights.

Road racing is a lot of fun, and the video offers a great view of laps around the track at Texas World Speedway where this track day takes place. The only thing we wish is that there was more sound from the car, as we love to hear the beautiful noise these high-winding Coyote engines make.

If you missed project Coyote swap the first time around, LateModelRestoration.com has a section about the car that you can find here, which includes a full parts list of the part used and that you will likely need to complete your own Coyote swap project.
