Even with the first C7 Corvettes rolling off of assembly lines at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, there is still a six-month waiting list for the all-new Corvette. But if you were among the first to place an order, and happen to know the right people in the right places, then you’ve already had a chance to take the 2014 Stingray for a spin.

The lucky guys at Hennessey Performance Engineering have had their hands on a 2014 Corvette for a few days now, taking it down the drag strip in short order. But just how fast is the Corvette in the standing mile? Hennessey went ahead and found out, and the answer is just shy of 160 MPH.

We are pretty sure this is the same bone-stock, automatic-equipped Corvette we saw in previous videos, and even with a six-speed slushbox the Chevy supercar ticks off some impressive numbers. Zero to 60 MPH takes just 4.2 seconds, and the Corvette arrives at 90 MPH after only 9.6 seconds.

To reach 150 takes the Corvette just 24 seconds, and in a mere 31.5 seconds the Corvette goes a full mile. Hennessey’s performance specialists topped the Corvette out at 176 seemingly with ease, and it is rather amazing how quiet the video was. This new Corvette is something else, and Hennessey hasn’t even started tuning it yet. We can’t wait to see what HPE has in store once they tear into the 455 horsepower LT1 V8.
