Ford made history by clinching a third consecutive Manufacturers’ Championship win in Global Rallycross via the stellar performances of first place finisher Toomas Heikkinen and second place Tanner Foust at the X Games LA. As of the current points standings it’s Ford at the top with 264 points, Subaru in the number two spot with 109 points, and Dodge with 94 points.

And, there are still three rounds left to go in the season.

With Ford already taking a significant lead it begs the question, have they found an unstoppable force within the Fiesta GRC program? Ford Fiesta ST drivers have claimed nine out of the 12 X Games medals that were up for grabs, including three of a possible four gold medals, over the course of four global events.  They have also dominated two additional series races with podium sweeps.

“We announced our expanded commitment to the Fiesta GRC program back in February and just seven months later have another championship to celebrate,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. “It’s thrilling to have two strong teams in OlsbergsMSE and Hoonigan Racing Division, who can take our commitment and truly dominate the series like they have this year.”

Ford has tallied five victories and 15 podium appearances between its six drivers in the Global Rallycross series. It looks as though Ford is poised to finish out a strong year with much to celebrate.

The Global Rallycross Championship will run Round 8 at Charlotte Motor Speedway today, September 21.
