Installing Corbeau Seats and 5-Point Harnesses With CJ Pony Parts

The seats might be the most important interior feature in any Mustang. Seats don’t just have to be comfortable, but many of us also want them to be supportive in the right areas. Professional drivers will tell you that having a good seat makes all the difference when you spend hours behind the wheel.

CJ Pony Parts recently teamed up with Corbeau to install some Corbeau FX1 seats in staff member Sean Kivler’s 2004 Saleen. The FX1 seat is a fixed position, lightweight seat. The FX1 also has a fiberglass frame, and can accept multiple mounting options. This makes the FX1 a versatile option for a variety of applications from daily drivers to hardcore track cars.

The FX1 Pro that was installed in Kilver’s car comes ready to mount on Corbeau’s seat tracks. Those tracks are available for 64-current Mustangs and make installing the seats a truly bolt in task.

This type of seat makes hard cornering and extreme driving more comfortable, and also allows the driver to focus on what the car is doing, instead of trying to keep their posterior planted in the seat.

During the video, Bill from CJPP takes us through installing the seats, as well as Corbeau’s Mustang harness bar, and Corbeau harnesses. Having quality harnesses and a proper way to mount them are also a good idea when you hit the track on a regular basis, or are going to utilize non-factory harnesses in any way.

If this was simply a seat swap, the entire job likely would have taken less than a half hour to perform. Since it also involves the use of the harness bar and installing the five-point harnesses, installation time is closer to three hours.

Kivler reports the seats and even the harnesses are comfortable for daily driving. He even recently drove the car 10 hours one way to Mustang Week, with no discomfort, and only minor annoyance from the harnesses rubbing.

Having good seats can not only make a difference on the track but also on daily commutes whether they’re short or a long haul. For more information on these or other Corbeau products check out the CJ Pony Parts web site.
