Video: Recap American Muscle Mustang Mayhem Dyno Challenge

American Muscle recently held their Mustang Mayhem event. This shootout consisted of six high powered competitors spinning the Dynojet rollers to see who has top horsepower number. The winner received a $250 American Muscle gift card, and the runners up a $50 gift card for making the trip to AM to participate. Participants are selected based on entries, and AM looks for cars that make between 500-1200 horsepower to the rear wheels. From the submitted entries, six cars were selected, and invited to take part in the event.

The contest rules were fairly simple, each competitor was given 30 minutes to make as many or as few dyno pulls as they wanted to. When time expired, their last dyno pull was the number that would go on the board for the competition. This made the competition somewhat of a calculated gamble for many owners. Heat being a major player in forced-induction performance, power numbers could drop as more dyno pulls were made. Since the last dyno number a competitor’s car turned would be the number they walked away with, each competitor had to decide how many pulls they would make. Breaking the car would obviously put you out of the running as well.

The field consisted of no fewer than three GT500’s including one Super Snake, as well as two New Edge SVT Cobras, and one 2005 Mustang GT.

At the end of the day, it was the Super Snake taking top honors, and the big gift card, laying down a stout 667 hp to the rear tires.

American Muscle has put together an awesome video showing off all the cars on the dyno, and the copious amounts of tire smoke from the parking lot. Each car in competition put down some respectable numbers, with a total of over 3,500 hp on hand for the event. We’ve listed the results below, and have the video here as well. For more information on each competitor, or their car, check out the video, or visit the AM blog for more details.
