Fun times were had at the recent Spring Fling by Gateway Classic Cars out of Indiana. A congregation of cars from Mustangs to Camaros, Firebirds to ‘Cudas, and many more were present. Folks from the all over the Midwest showed up with their prized automobiles, some looking to possibly make a sale!

Gateway Classic Cars, which hosted the show seen in this , is a classic car dealer, specializing in private owner, collector, and estate consignments. The Spring Fling was put on in GCC’s three locations: St. Louis, Louisville, and Chicago. Planning is underway to open a new location in Detroit.

A spectacular lime green Nomad from Manns Restoration was on display. This car had sentimental history, as it was brought in with boxes of parts the owner wanted installed; mod’s his brother wanted done, but died before he could. Without any records to go from, the car was disassembled and given a thorough assessment to determine its status of completion.

Following that, the body was stripped, straightened, and repainted in the color respecting the brother’s wishes. Disc brakes and a Vintage Air system were installed, and a Classic Performance 605 conversion gave the car up-to-date power steering. The drivetrain was simple enough, as Manns gave the Nomad a mild 350 V-8/350 turbo build, but kept the original 10 bolt rear end. A great look and a great car to see at this event! 

Let’s not forget the rocking musical stylings of the Rat Rod Kings, whose signature rockabilly/country style was a fitting homage to the hits of Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson. Dr. James “Doc” Logan of Logan Racing was in town as well, and showcased two of his prized Indy cars. Kudos to Gateway Classic Cars for their successful Spring Fling, and best wishes for next year’s event!
