How do you make a great vehicle like the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 even better? That’s easy – just let John Hennessey have it for a few days to install one of his company’s HPE650 upgrade packages. In this video from YouTube the man himself gives us a review of the features of the Hennessey Jeep SRT8, as well as a firsthand look at just how well it can accelerate down the track.

Hennessey starts by taking the already potent all-wheel-drive Jeep SRT8 and adding a TVS 2300 supercharger to the 392ci Hemi. The Jeep also gets a set of long-tube headers, high flow cats, and some porting work done on the cylinder heads to make the absolute most of the boost.

Hennessey reports that when all the work is done the HPE650 Jeep will put down somewhere around 530 horsepower to the wheels – a solid increase of about 130 all-wheel-horsepower from what the stock Hemi makes.   

Now, 0-60 times and quarter-mile ET’s aren’t usually a Jeep owner’s primary concern, but the Hennessey Jeep SRT8 certainly delivers impressive numbers regardless. The big SUV gets from a dead stop to 60 MPH in a short 3.9 seconds, and stops the clock at 12.6 seconds going 109.57MPH in the quarter-mile.

Those are stats that would put a whole slew of performance coupes to shame. As Hennessey puts it, “That’s purty darn quick for something that’s pushing nearly 5,000 pounds…”
