Video: Highlights From The World Of Outlaws Invasion Of Eldora

Over 40 of the best sprint car drivers in the country arrived at the famous Eldora Speedway for this past weekend’s pair of World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events at the historic half mile. Both Friday and Saturday nights’ main events featured some incredible racing and slidejob after slidejob.

Friday Night Action:

Thanks to our friends at Eldora Speedway you can watch all the highlights from Friday’s main event above. Friday night saw Kerry Madsen finally end his drought at Eldora by winning a wild a-feature. Madsen passed Craig Dollansky on lap 17 and never looked back.

Screen shot 2013-05-06 at 8.28.40 AM“I’ve had a very slow start to the season,” said Madsen, of St. Marys, NSW, Australia, who came up just short in the 2010 Kings Royal to Steve Kinser and just short again to Sammy Swindell in the 2012 Kings Royal. “So to get a win is great, but to get it at Eldora where I’ve been so close so many times … I always felt like I’ve been good here, but not gotten a win, so it feels fantastic to get the win.”

Dollansky came home in 2nd, and was followed by Paul McMahan in third.

Donny Schatz thrilled the crowd with an impressive run from 24th to fourth, marking the fourth time this season he has won KSE Hard Charger honors.

Saturday Action:

The return the following night brought even better racing to the famed half-mile as Brian Brown traded slide jobs with Brad Sweet early in the event. Brown would then have to hold off a charge from reigning champion Donny Schatz.

However on the final restart Daryn Pittman proved to be to much for Brown and pulled away from Brown to capture the main event victory. “I think I gained at least one spot if not two on every restart,” said Pittman, “It made all difference in the world. On those double file restarts, they’re tricky they either go for you or against you and luckily tonight they helped us.”

For Brown he was left wondering about the last restart, “I was thinking maybe I should go to the outside, but the bottom had worked pretty good the whole time,” said Brown, of Grain Valley, Mo. “You don’t want to say, ‘Well gosh, you ran the bottom the whole time on those restarts, why did you choose the top and get beat that way.’ The driver has to do his job for 30 laps, and I just had 28 good ones and a bad restart.”
