Video: AmericanMuscle.com Releases Stage 3 of Fox Body Project

The folks over at AmericanMuscle.com have been extremely busy trying to get their new Fox Body project through the restoration stages, as well as getting your Mustang parts delivered to your front door. Stage 1 and Stage 2 both have been completed and here’s how they finished Stage 3, restoring this pony from wear and tear to looking like a brand new gem.

The plan is to turn this bad boy into a ’93 Cobra replica…but as a convertible. No Cobra convertibles were produced for that year, so why not make the first one? As you know, the past two stages have consisted of a ton of weatherstripping, new paint, a brand new functional convertible top, interior restoration paint and a few other things to get this Mustang looking like new car.

Now that those two stages are out of the way, this last stage three meant adding the performance parts needed to take it up to the next level, the level of a Fox Body Cobra.

This 5.0-liter pushrod V8 received a Cobra intake manifold along with GT40X heads which, are lighter than the GT40 heads on the original 1993 SVT Cobra. It also received a E303 cam, SR Performance 70mm throttle body, along with new Cobra valve covers. A cold air intake was added back in Stage 1, so it also has that installed under the hood.

With the E303 performance hydraulic roller camshaft installed, the performance dramatically increased, working in harmony with the cylinder heads and intake modifications. Who doesn’t love the sound of a loping idling cam, especially one that doesn’t stall and helps improve their torque low through mid-range?

On to the exhaust modifications. A set of Ford Racing ceramic shorty headers were installed along with a BBK off-road H-pipe connecting, to a Flowmaster American Thunder Super 44 Series mufflers for a cat-back full exhaust setup. To tie that all together, AM’s BAMA team gave it a nice tune.

Next up, suspension time. SR Performance lowering springs with caster camber plates lowered the Fox Body about 1.5-inches all around giving it a mean stance. Koni shocks and struts were installed and body flex was improved with SR Performance’s subframe connectors welded in.

What do you think of this Foxy lady?
