With the last couple of weeks being focused on the release of the latest Corvette, a noteworthy car was unveiled and perhaps flew under the radar a bit. Earlier this week, Holden officially revealed the design for their 2013 VF Commodore. Not only will the sedan be available in Australia, but in the United States as well. What was once re-badged as a Pontiac G8 will now be known simply as a Chevrolet SS, in the United States that is. While we aren’t exactly sure what engine will be powering the sleek looking sedan, you should be able to expect the performance version to pack one heck of a punch.

Holden claims that their new flagship will be one of the most technologically advanced vehicles to ever come off the Australian assembly line – In their brief debut of the car, they mention that an automated parking system will be standard equipment in all VFs. They also claim that this version of the Commodore will be one of the safest along with being the most light-weight due to their use of aluminum body panels. In Holden’s own words, we should be expecting to see a “world class” vehicle when the new Commodore is officially released. You can even expect to see this model make an appearance in NASCAR.

The Pontiac G8 was a good little taste of what we can expect to see with this beast. If you’re anything like your author, you are raring and ready to get a more hands on experience when the car is officially released. Holden is surely setting expectations quite high with this platform, hopefully they will be able to surpass them with flying colors.
