Video: 2013 SRT Vipers Slither Down Assembly Line

2012 was a great year for American automakers, but Chrysler had an especially important year. Sales are soaring, critical acclaim for new products are coming from many outlets, and most importantly of all, Chrysler brought the Viper back from the dead, remaking it as the flagship of the SRT brand. Amazingly, it was almost a year ago that Chrysler revealed the new Viper, and production has only just begun.

Official production kicked off earlier this month at the Connor Avenue Assembly Plant. Knowing that fans would want to watch their favorite American supercar come together, Chrysler brought along a camera crew to tape this momentous occasion.

With an all-new 8.4 liter V10 engine putting out 640 horsepower and 600 ft-lbs of torque, the 2013 SRT Viper carries on the fine tradition of big, naturally-aspirated engines in a tiny, sleek package. The video follows the entire production process, from engine assembly and inspection to putting the body together and of course final assembly.

Unlike some other factory assembly lines we’re used to seeing, the Viper assembly line lacks the mass production machinery of say, Ford’s Rogue Plant where the F-150 is made. Due to the low production numbers of the new Viper, production seems to take a slower pace, with a higher emphasis on quality. Looks like a great job if you ask us, and we can’t wait to see the completed rides hitting the street. If you’re a Viper fan (and who isn’t?) you have to watch this video.
