It seems like a broken record over the last five years as the Swindell family has become nearly unstoppable at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  After his 2013 win Kevin Swindell has now won a record 4 Chili Bowl titles in a row and now stands in second place all-time to only his father Sammy Swindell who won the 2009 Chili Bowl and has earned a record 5 Chili Bowl victories. 

If you just looked at the results from the 2013 Chili Bowl you would assume that the Swindell’s dominated the race again.  However, that was far from the case as Kyle Larson traded slide jobs with Kevin and Sammy which proved to be some of the best racing that Chili Bowl fans had seen in a long time.

It all starts on a restart on lap 10 when Sammy led the field to the green flag followed by Larson and Kevin.  Larson hounded Sammy for the next several laps before taking the lead on lap 13.  Kevin would follow suit as he went three-wide and nearly wrecked as he made contact with his father Sammy to take the runner-up spot. 

Kevin would then set his sights on Larson for the lead as the two drivers would put on one of the best shows in Chili Bowl history that brought the capacity crowd to their feet as the roar of the fans could be heard above the engines.  The two young drivers would swap the lead back and forth several times before Larson spun in turn four on lap 18 which would end his bid for a Chili Bowl win.  The fans would give Larson a standing ovation in appreciation for the racing they had just seen.  From there on it was all history as Kevin Swindell would drive to an unprecedented fourth straight Chili Bowl title.
