Video: Installing Airaid’s Cold Air Kit on a 2011+ 3.7L V6 Mustang

It’s no secret to most of us that the 3.7L V6 available in 2011-2013 Mustangs is no slouch. This engine offers comparable horsepower to the GT of just a few short years ago. It’s also fair to say that while the V8 cars are great, the majority of Mustangs on the road are equipped with a V6.

With such hearty factory performance, the V6 has been a draw for many aftermarket companies to develop parts. There are many six cylinder Mustangs roaming the streets with mods making them fully capable of surprising their V8 brethren, or lowly Brand X competition.

No matter which engine we have, often the first modifications most of us make to our cars is a cold air induction kit. Improving performance and sound, these kits often offer some of the best bang for the buck in terms of upgrades.

Airaid has recently release a video detailing the installation of their 2011-2013 Mustang 3.7L V6 intake kit. The kit can be installed in about thirty minutes with only hand tools, and is so simple that even the most novice Mustang newbie should be able to handle it.

Left: The Airaid intake system comes with all the parts necessary for installation. Right: The installed kit has an OEM level of fit and finish and installation time is less than hour with regular hand tools.

The Airaid system features the same quality construction as it’s V8 counterparts as well. Components included in the kit are:

  • One piece roto-molded composite air box
  • Roto-molded intake tube
  • 1100 CFM washable and reusable air filter
  • Blade style weather strip
  • Silicone coupler
  • Hardware kit with clamps
  • Detailed installation instructions

Performance improvements are stout for such a simple upgrade. Dyno testing shows an increase of 15 ft/lbs of torque and 13 hp. These improvements come on early at just over 2000 rpm and stay strong all the way to red line. This means that the system produces excellent power throughout the engine RPM range, even down in the low revs where the engine will spend most of it’s time. Customers will also likely notice an improvement in their over all engine sound with the intake tract now opened up.

These kits are available now from Airaid dealers or at the Airaid web site.

Part Number: 450-265.
