Video: Bobby Alloway Builds A Clean ’56 Ford Wagon For SEMA

Since his business first started in 1991, custom rod and musclecar builder, Bobby Alloway has built award-winning hot rods that have gone on to enjoy acclaim at such major motoring venues as this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. As a matter of fact, our featured ’56 Ford street rod wagon is just one car that Alloway brought to this year’s SEMA event, as his red-and-white Fairlane was also featured.

Not only a terrific custom to show off at the Vegas Convention Center’s prestigious aftermarket and performance auto show, but Alloway’s Ford wagon also serves as a prime example of what Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop can do when combining forces with Knoxville, Tennessee’s premiere custom interior shop, Steve Holcomb’s Pro Auto Custom Interiors.

Holcomb was able to dial-in the suave black interior for Alloway’s trick wagon down to a science, “We hand-made the dash and the door panels. The back seat’s also hand-made; that’s not an original seat.” Not only in the seats, but Holcomb made sure that even the ’56 wagon’s chrome was done right, “We made a 3D piece of them and then Bobby Alloway sent them out and had them made out of metal and chrome-plated.”

Bobby’s own personal rod, the Ford sits on top of an Art Morrison chassis and is powered by a 427 “Cammer” mill, making the street rod wagon as quick as it is clean. A show-quality rod with the best of drivetrain and interior, Alloway’s Ford was featured at the PPG display.

While the wagon’s roof is not an original, it has been chopped and grooved for a maximum streamlined effect while all of the car’s original sketches and drawings were done by Eric Brockmeyer.

If you’ve ever been to SEMA, then you know just what kind of customs are expected to be on display every year. Given this, Bobby Alloway’s street-rodded ’56 Ford wagon did way more than just fit-in; it’s by far one of the event’s greatest centerpieces! What do you think?
