Kyle Larson got off to a very good start in his attempt to repeat his sweep of the “Four Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway when he won the 25 lap USAC Mopar National Midget Series feature. Jerry Coons Jr. looked strong early as he led the first 15 laps of the feature. Then on lap 16 Larson charged hard from his ninth place starting spot to take the lead from Coons.

Larson would hold on to take the win as his engine appeared to blow up as he crossed the finish line. Brad Kuhn came home in the runner-up spot and was followed by Coons in third, Bobby East in fourth, and #1 qualifier Darren Hagen rounded out the top-five. Up next for the USAC National Midget Series is the “Gold Crown Midget Nationals” at Tri-City Speedway on October 4-6.
The New Castle, Indiana driver Tracey Hines was able to dominate the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car feature at the “Four Crown Nationals” as he led all 30 laps to take the victory.
Kyle Larson’s bid to repeat his sweep of the three portions of the “Four Crown Nationals” came to a premature end when he suffered a bruised knee and sore neck after a lap 6 flip which would send him to a local hospital where he was later treated and released. Dave Darland would finish in the runner-up spot behind Hines and was followed by Chris Windom in third, Chase Stockon in fourth, and Bryan Clauson crossed the line in fifth. The next race for the USAC National Sprint Car Series will be September 29th at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
At the start of the USAC Traxxas Silver Crown portion of the “Four Crown Nationals” it was Bobby East who jumped out to an early lead from his pole position starting spot that he inherited from Kyle Larson who was unable to start the feature after suffering minor injuries in the Sprint Car portion of the event. On lap 10, Bryan Clauson was able to run down East for the lead which he would put a strangle hold on and lead the final 40 laps of the 50 lap feature. The Noblesville, Indiana native, Clauson, held off runner-up Robert Ballou who was followed by Jerry Coons Jr. in third, Bobby East in Fourth, and Bud Kaeding completed the top-five.
The next event for the USAC Silver Crown Series is the “Sumar Classic 100” at the Terre Haute Action Track on October 13th. For more information on any USAC racing fans can visit www.usacracing.com.
