After canceling the 2011 season in mid July last year, fans of the West Virginia Motor speedway are getting really excited to see the track re-open on September 16th. During its time off the track decided to re-configured turns 3 and 4 and take the track from a half mile to a 4/10 bull ring. .
The season opener will feature the ADRA Super late models among other support divisions. The ADRA sanctioned “Buzzy Topless Classic” for the super late models will be a 30 lap, $3,000 to win, $300 to start A-main. Unique to the ADRA series schedule for 2012, the super dirt late models in this race will be “topless”, removing the roof and sheet metal supports.
“Our inaugural event for the new track at WVMS is named out the respect we have for Buzzy Holliday. He’s a long time racer in this area and is currently our track preparation manager.” said Lynn Chapman, head of Mountain State Motorsports Promotions. “His enthusiasm for this new track in contagious. As much work and effort that Buzzy has put into this track, naming the event after him is the very least we could do!”
The above video features a lap around the new West Virgina Motor Speedway and from the looks of it, turns 3 and 4 might present a unique challenge to drivers.
