Overland Smarter: Jeep Unveils Sleek ARTT Tent Concept

If you’re the kind of Jeep Wrangler owner who sees a dirt trail and thinks, “let’s see where it goes,” there’s something new you’re going to want to bolt to your rig. At this year’s Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Jeep Performance Parts (JPP), in a collaboration with Dometic, revealed a game-changing concept designed with adventure in mind: The Awning and Rooftop Tent (ARTT) system.

Shown fully set up on top of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser concept: Jeep Performance Parts by Mopar has announced an innovative, conceptual camping solution for the Jeep Wrangler. The Awning and Rooftop Tent (ARTT) concept was created in partnership with Dometic to provide a premium, lightweight, low-profile all-in-one awning and rooftop tent system.

An Overland-Ready Tent That Fits Like a Glove

Unlike generic rooftop tents that require a heavy-duty rack and look like a boxy afterthought, the ARTT concept is custom-made to integrate seamlessly with four-door Jeep Wranglers. Developed in partnership with mobile-living experts Dometic, this low-profile, lightweight tent system isn’t just functional, it’s engineered with Jeep DNA.

Wrapped in a sleek carbon-fiber shell, the ARTT cuts down on weight and wind resistance, which are huge concerns for off-roaders who value trail performance and fuel efficiency. The whole setup mounts directly to the Wrangler’s roof, eliminating the need for bulky rack systems.

“The lightweight and compact JPP Awning and Rooftop Tent concept is the perfect accessory for adventure-seeking Jeep Wrangler owners, whether they are overlanding across long distances or decide to go on a spur-of-the-moment quick weekend getaway,” said Mike Koval, senior vice president and head of sales operations, Jeep brand. “We’re excited to see consumer reaction at Overland Expo West to our newest innovative concept for our enthusiast Jeep brand customers.”

With access from inside the Jeep Wrangler, the tent system includes a removable step to protect the center console.

What’s Inside? A Lot More Than You’d Expect

The ARTT system isn’t just a tent, it’s your overland command center. The system uses Dometic’s AIR Frame Inflation tech, making setup a breeze (literally). When deployed, the integrated awning swings out a full 270 degrees, giving you a shaded space for relaxing or prepping meals after a long day on the trail.

Inside, you’ll find enough space to stretch out on a queen-size mattress. One standout feature? Direct interior access from your Wrangler thanks to a clever design that lets you climb up through the removed freedom panels. It even comes with a carbon-fiber step to protect your center console during those sleepy midnight climbs.

Trail-Tested On The Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser Concept

The ARTT made its debut atop the jaw-dropping Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser, a concept first revealed at the 2025 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. With a head-turning Solar Flash and Satin Black exterior, and electrified off-road capability, the Sunchaser is built for serious adventure. Starting with a four-door Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon, the Sunchaser concept sports a 2-inch JPP suspension lift with concept high-top fender flares and 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels. The Wrangler also features a Warn recovery winch with a custom guard and push bar along with the Mopar Illuminati3 pivoting light bar accessory. Carrying all the necessary gear for a full weekend of adventure are concept side storage boxes with integrated Molle panels. The roof storage rack that was previously installed has been removed in favor of the ARTT system.

Now, with the ARTT system bolted on, this concept Jeep is ready for everything from remote desert camps to alpine lake escapes.

Why The ARTT Tent System Matters

For overlanders and weekend warriors alike, gear matters. You want solutions that are smart, efficient, and built for the wild. The JPP ARTT concept delivers on all fronts. It’s aerodynamic, trail-capable, and engineered specifically for the Wrangler lifestyle.

The JPP ARTT concept tent system was developed as part of the Stellantis Star*Up intrapreneurship program. The program serves as an idea incubator for Stellantis employees encouraging their entrepreneurial spirit and consumer-focused mindset creating innovative mobility products and services.
