Dita Von Teese is many things: a gorgeous model, actress, revivalist of the art of burlesque and a picturesque ideal of the 1940s woman. But Teese isn’t just about the make-up and fashion of the war-time era, she is also about the cars. To show just how much of a car enthusiast she is, Teese recently took Hannah Elliot of Forbes for a spin in her very own ‘39 Packard 128 and ‘46 Ford Super Deluxe convertible. Check out the of the outing featured on RideLust below.
Not impressed with the modern sports cars, Teese is especially drawn to the ‘30s car models, telling Elliot that “the 1930s were the most elegant era for cars.” Driving the Packard is proof of that. As one of the premiere cars of the era, Teese elaborates about how easy the 128 is to drive compared to other ‘30s and ‘40s cars, with a smoother and faster ride.
The drivability isn’t the only thing appealing about the Packard to Teese, however. So too are the body lines and hood ornament on the car, as well as its reputation for being a popular model driven by gangsters back in the ‘40s.
Although Teese loves the cars of the ‘30s, her favorite time period in general is the mid ‘40s. She tells Elliot in the interview that she loves the makeup, hair and fashion of the era, as well as the amazing cars. As the first convertible Teese has owned, she explains that her Ford Super Deluxe is the perfect car to drive around in Hollywood with its essence of glamour.
Even though Teese’s cars are over 60 years old, she still drives them to places like the grocery store and palates class. In her years of buying and selling classic cars, she has found that people enjoy seeing cars like hers that they have never seen before.
Add that to the classic styling and ever increasing value of the well-maintained classic cars, and we think Teese has found her niche in the automotive world. Not that she needed an excuse to be even more fantastic.
