The Ridge Motorsports Park, a new racing facility north of Olympia, Washington, caters to most stripes of Northwestern racers. There’s a 2.47-mile road course, a 1:5 scale version of the road course for karts, and a motocross course in the works. The road course’s 16 corners scythe through an elevated woodland area with 300 feet of elevation change, and the technical infield, Corkscrew-like drop, and few fast corners provide plenty to keep drivers engaged. That variety is one of the main reasons why Global Time Attack chose The Ridge as the site for its first event of the 2020 season.

Aside from a set of Yokohama ADVAN tires underneath them, the race cars on display were as varied as one could imagine. The four categories—Enthusiast, Street, Limited, and Unlimited—put the mildly modified among the wing-clad extreme, and interestingly enough, all of the classes overlapped heavily in terms of lap times.

Jackie Ding and a near-stock Supra were there, as was Amir Bentatou and his K-series-powered Acura NSX. BMWs, Porsches, Mustangs, and Subarus filled the ranks, and some variety in weather helped keep the competitors searching for speed throughout the weekend. For fans of motorsport who enjoy racers with colorful personalities, a diverse set of build approaches, and enough rain to unstick everything in the field, this event was one of the better to watch.

At the end of the two-day event, Bentatou and his K20-powered Acura took the top step of the Street class podium as well as the fastest time of the day with a 1:44.1.
