One of the harsh realities of racing is: unless you’ve got incredibly deep pockets or a magnate uncle, you’re going to have to secure sponsorship to move forward. It’s a pricey sport, and getting on board with a respected, knowledgeable, and supportive company like PFC Brakes can make a significant difference in your career’s progression.
The Idea
To help the ambitious amateur along, PFC Brakes devised an intriguing competition to get young (and old; no age constraints) drivers more involved in the marketing side of things. Those with a knack for self-promotion will be handsomely rewarded, and those who don’t win will still walk away with a stronger understanding of how the commercial side of racing works.
“The truth is, tons of people ask us for sponsorship annually. Our sponsorship program allows us to focus all our time and effort into one process, which also increases our exposure,” said PFC Brakes’ Director of Marketing, Adam Keiser. “In my humble opinion, in terms of sponsorship over the last three years, we have developed one of the best sponsorship programs in the motorsports industry,” he added.
The Process
Fortunately, getting involved is quite simple. Racers looking for help can find the application form here. After filling it out and sharing the pinned #SponsorMePFC20 post from the PFC Facebook page, the real work begins. Though the competition officially begins next Monday, PRI 2019 attendants can start as early as Friday, December 13.
Over the following four weeks, the best 51 applicants will then be judged on how well they can make an impact on social media. “We’re looking for those who can create the most engaging content on Instagram and Twitter,” noted Keiser. “Each day, we’ll search social media for the hashtag.”
“We evaluate the applicants based on their accomplishments, character, and ultimately their engagement and reach with the hashtag,” he added. Though PFC wants exciting content, a sheer effort will make a difference; one of last year’s winners created over 300 pieces of content in the four-week period!
The evaluation period will end on January 5, at 5 p.m. On January 13, the top 51 applicants will be named on Speed51’s Morning Bullring. The #SponsorMe committee will then deliberate and announce the ten winners on January 27.
The Payoff
The ten best whose “accomplishments, character, engagement, and reach with the hashtag” set them apart will be awarded a bevy of gifts that should make their 2020 season a massive success. Each winner will receive the following:
- $1,500 of product credit, which can be used with any of PFC Brakes’ vendors.
- Trackside support at select events.
- Marketing support throughout the season.
- Plenty of limited-edition PFC swag.
That’s enough to make one forget entirely about the holiday season.
