SEMA 2019: OER Releases More Essential GM G-body & Truck Parts

We all know Squarebody trucks are hot at the moment, and G-bodies have always been loved. With everyone buying them up, it comes as no surprise that parts for them can be hard to find – you hoarders know who you are!

Well, fear not, Classic Industries has you covered. We stopped by the OER/Classic Industries booth at the 2019 SEMA Show, and the hard-working folks there showed us some of the new products.

In the video above, Dennis Pittsenbarger caught up with Craig Maiorana, as he broke down just what they have going on.

“We hunt down the products people are looking for, and those are the ones we attack first. We went hard on the G-bodies this year. We wanted to make stuff to replace the perishable parts – the stuff that deteriorates. We started with the taillights – that was the main thing.”- Craig Maiorana

Craig expounded on just what spurred them to create these items specifically. He responded, “We went into the forums and asked our customers what they wanted us to make, and at the top of the list were the taillights.”

But it’s not just the taillights people are after, so Craig explained what else they’re bringing to the table for restorers of this group of aging classics. “We are eventually going to get to the full interior plastics, and quarter windows. This is all stuff the sun really dries out and eats alive — they turn to powder in your hands. So, we’ll be revamping all of that stuff.”

“We also have tons of sheet metal — doors and hoods. We are also working on the upholstery, which is model specific. We want to make sure we get it right for all the models. I’m a G-body owner and now there’s support. They’re very popular, and I always had a feeling these were going to be a future collectible.”

Another huge collectible market segment OER sought to cater to was the Squarebody/C10 crowd. The Squarebody Chevy’s are just as susceptible to the sun’s damaging rays as the venerable G-body. It should come as no surprise. They were manufactured at the same time with the same materials, at the same factories.

Craig had this to say about the Squarebody offerings — “One of the things we really wanted to improve upon was the number of emblems we offer. There are so many variations of emblems — you’ve got your 10s, the 20s, and 30s for almost every model, and then you’ve got models that are standalone like K5s. So, each year of those, the emblem changes as well.”

So, there you have it. If you’re hankering for some restoration parts for your G-body or Squarebody, check out the OER/Classic Industries website, here.
