When the Shelby FP350S race car was first introduced to the world back in 2016, the team at Ford Performance set out to build a turn-key race car for the die-hard, track day enthusiast. The factory-built race car features a 5.2-liter V8 engine prepared by Ford Performance and a long list of race-oriented fitments specifically designed for road racing in Trans Am (TA3 and TA4 classes), NASA, and SCCA club racing events.

This month, Ford Performance announced that Forgeline Wheels, a manufacturer of premium, one-piece forged-aluminum race wheels, supplies the optional 18-inch wheel for the Ford Shelby FP350S.  Enthusiasts can now choose the GS1R 18 x 11-inch racing wheel as an option for the latest race-ready Mustang from Ford Performance.

“The FP350S is targeted at the sportsman level and track day guy who doesn’t want to take his new Shelby GT350 and ruin his great streetcar,” Dave Born, Engineering Manager at Ford Performance, said. “This car has everything all worked out and engineered to take it out and have a really great time at the racetrack, including the optional 18-inch Forgeline Wheels.”

The available GS1R wheel fitment for the Shelby FP350S is similar to Ford’s 2018 Mustang GT4 race car, which is currently racing in the IMSA and Pirelli World Challenge events across the country. The one-piece forged wheel is built from 6061-T6 aluminum making the race wheel super light and highly durable with extreme stiffness and fatigue strength to withstand consecutive days at the track.
